The current Leeds owners are the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise and among their shareholders are a number of US sports stars, including golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
Ferrell, 56, is the star of numerous films including Elf, Anchorman, Step Brothers, Daddy’s Home and Bewitched.
He is a big sports fan and a part-owner of Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC.
In February, Ferrell attended a game involving Wrexham, who are owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – Ferrell and Reynolds appeared together in Spirited.
And two days later he was at Anfield as Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 in the Merseyside derby.
