While last month when US President Donald Trump visited India, the official twitter handle of White House started to follow the accounts of President Ram NathKovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister’s office, the Indian Embassy in the United States, the United States Embassy in India and the US Ambassador to India, Ken Juster.
However, early this week, the white house unfollowed all the six accounts that were in their follow list from India. In explanation to the same, an official of senior administration told the Press Trust of India (PTI). “The White House Twitter account normally follows senior US government Twitter accounts, and others as appropriate. For example, during the time of a presidential visit, the account typically follows for a short time, the host country’s officials to retweet their messages in support of the visit.”
The official had to respond in this way as he was being questioned about the following and unfollowing of the respected president and prime minister of India.
Also to mention the tweet of senior congress leader and opposition’s head – he said – “I’m dismayed by the “unfollowing” of our President & PM by the White House. I urge the Ministry of External Affairs to take note.”
As per the reports and the protocol the White House follows they are only following 13 accounts. However, the followers of White House were 22 million as read on 28 April.
The 13 accounts that are followed by the official page of The White House includes – President Donald Trump and his official Twitter handle, the First Lady, the Vice President, the Second Lady, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the National Security Council and the former White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, among a few other authority forces.
