Visakhapatnam (Vizag) Gas Leak News Updates: Hundreds fell sick and 11 lost their lives in Visakhapatnam when styrene gas leaked within the wee hours on Thursday.

As per the govt. data, people who fell unconscious are stable now and can be discharged soon. Reports say that 20 people are still on ventilator support. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday visited Vizag and met the affected locals. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore and has directed the Arogyasri trust to hide all medical bills of the gas leak patients.

The govt. has already ordered a high-level inquiry into the tragedy that was harking back to the horrific Bhopal gas leak tragedy that killed thousands leftover 15,000 exposed to the poisonous gas.

The NDRF has evacuated hundreds from a 2-km radius of the LG Chem plant, South Koreas’ leading chemical firm, where the leakage was reported. The plant was shut ever since the nationwide lockdown was announced. Workers reported the leakage after they were reopening the plant following relaxations provided by the govt. to resume business within the third phase of the lockdown.
