The Indian cricket captain and the first lady of cricket, Mr. and Mrs. Virat Kohli, were blessed with a baby girl last afternoon, and we cannot keep calm. Virat took to Instagram and informed his fam about a baby girl’s arrival in their family.
Virat’s post read, “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy, and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat.”
Virushka, as fondly addressed by their followers across the world, took to Instagram for the revelation of Anushka’s pregnancy and the addition of a family member in August 2020. In identical tweets by both stars, they had written, “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021.”
Virat Kohli, an ace cricket player, and skipper was granted paternity leave by the BCCI (The Board of Control for Cricket in India). He later flew back to India from Australia at the end of December after playing the first of a four-match Test series hosted by the latter. In his absence, the team was being led by an experienced player – Ajinkya Rahane.
Coming back to the little munchkin that has arrived in the family, in an interview with Vogue India, Anushka spoke to the interviewee about raising the coming baby under the constant threat of social media and paps. Anushka later revealed that both she and her husband Virat want to maintain their share of privacy as children are vulnerable and need to be treated that way. She added, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.”
We congratulate the couple for the new phase in their lives and are showering our love to the newborn.
