Steps to motivate yourself when in depression

Depression is not just a temporary change in mood or a sign of weakness. It is a medical condition with many emotional, physical and behavioral changes.
Many people are ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Others deal with their symptoms and end up suffering in silence and pain.

Contrary to some misconceptions, depression is neither incurable nor a flaw in your mental
health. People with depression often have such ideas, which make them lose self-confidence even more.
Here are some steps by which you can be happy and charming ever again and beat that devilish depression with your confident self-

  1. Practice the art of self-compassion.
Self-check is depression’s closest friend. If you tell yourself that, you are being so “unproductive” and “lazy, “and “worthless”. You are going to make yourself feel like shit which will paralyze you more. Try instead using encouraging words for thyself that you would probably use for a friend or a close one. Being compassionate is the easiest key.
  2. Set an Alarm.
This is not only for getting out of bed in the morning. The alarm can be for anything that needs to be done but could not be done because of your depressed self. You might set an alarm to wake yourself up at a certain time to make sure you get out of bed in the morning, or you might set an alarm to
set proper lunch and dinner time. Signal time to do laundry, or for office, and so on. The alarm serves as a goal setter.
  3. Make goals to do it, not to enjoy it.
When you are feeling depressed, it happens that you lose interest in things that used to excite you. Comedy shows would not make you laugh sports will not give you the energy you would just not like anything. Anxiety, depression, and low self-confidence take over completely, leading to feelings of detachment and defeat. So, when doing something “fun” or “active, “try doing it with a goal and not just for fun and happiness to generate your love for these in no time.
  1. Dress up and Go Outside.
This can be one of the toughest steps for people who struggle with depression — leaving the house is the toughest task itself. One of the problems with this step is that people are easily held back by not having a place to go. Therefore, for this step, the idea is to just go outside and do anything fun or important going out of the house and your cozy comfortable bed is important to charge you. Go outside, close the door behind you, and do whatever comes to your mind — maybe a walk to the nearest street or park. Just to get those shabby eyebrows in shape, the goal is to at least spend half an hour out in fresh air and then coming back to your cozy life inside.
