Various people can just not move a limb if they do not enjoy an afternoon siesta until they come to know it is an unchanged habit. However, have you ever thought about the same, what is it, that makes you sleepy in the afternoon time? Is it because you did not sleep apt at night, which makes you take naps during the daytime. Is it good for you? Some say, yes, others say no, let us know what Ayurveda has to say about the fact.

As per Ayurveda, it is not a piece of good advice to sleep during daytime, as this is the time to be full of energy and spend your time doing the work, which requires your bodily functions. It shall also bring up the imbalance in the pitta and Kapha dosha making your body slow and lethargic, turning you non – functional.

Sleeping in daytime can cause various problems. Here are a few that we should keep in mind –

  • Fever
  • Skin diseases
  • Swelling
  • Weka immunity
  • Disease of throat
  • Cold aggravation

People who can sleep in the daytime –

  • Kids can sleep as they are pressured with studies, play and more
  • Elderly people as they need rest
  • Diabetic patients
  • People who went through recent surgeries
  • People with a short temper to calm down themselves
  • People with indigestion problems
  • People with hangover

However if you feel that sleeping in daytime is something without which you cannot move, you should consult a doctor for this pattern.
