After the film was delayed for more than a year, 83 the Kabir Khan directorial starring Ranveer Singh and more famous names is all set to put the silver screen on fire. The film chronicles India’s first world cup win under a great player’s captaincy – Mr Kapil Dev in 1983. The film dates are finally out, and we cannot keep calm while revealing it to you.
Taking to Instagram, Ranveer Singh captioned a photo that read: “June 4th, 2021!!!! In Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. See you in cinemas!!! #thisis83”
However, the film was originally scheduled to be released on 10th April’2020. But Ranveer Singh’s film got delayed due to the nationwide lockdown that was induced due to the coronavirus outbreak. Later, there were reports that a giant OTT platform offered Rs 143 crore to acquire the rights from the creators of the film- 83.
However, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment Group, Shibashish Sarkar, debunked the rumor and told PTI, “There is no truth in this. As producers and even the director, we all are on the same page that we want to wait for theatrical release for the next few months.”
The Bollywood movie is a sports drama starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Kapil Dev who was the Indian cricket team captain in 1983. Deepika Padukone, however, is doing a cameo in the movie and plays the role of Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Dev.
The film is also starred with different actors who play different cricketers from that era – the names are as below.
Dhairya Karwa as Ravi Shastri, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem, Nishant Dahhiya as Roger Binny, R Badree as Sunil Valson as Mohinder Amarnath and Pankaj Tripathi will be seen as their coach PR Man Singh.
Punjabi film star Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Adinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar will also be seen in the film.
