Ramayana becomes the highest viewed show since 2015

As a new lease of life for the masses, especially the age-old generation and the kids
belonging to the era of 80s and 90s, DD National, since Thursday has re-initiated the
popular mythological series Ramayana, after 32 years. At a time when the people are
confined to their premises due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the resultant lockdown,
the show has gained immense popularity for a second time among the viewers.
As revealed by BARC, which is a television monitoring agency, the show has gained
nearly 51 million viewers since the day of its re-launch. Interestingly, it was 34 million on
the very first day itself. The number then shoot up to 51 million on Sunday. Needless to
say, it has only been a week!
The agency, which started compiling such data from 2015 onward, regarded Ramayana
as the show that probably has the highest viewership in comparison to any other show
from the Hindi Entertainment world. For those who do not know yet, the channel is
telecasting two episodes every day. The timings for the show are 9 am to 10 am and 9
pm to 10 pm, respectively, for morning and evening.
Thanks to the show, the digital traffic for all DD channels on YouTube has also doubled
in all these days. Surpassing all other Television shows of the era, Ramayana is believed
to be the highest-rated show. It is seen and preferred by the residents of all the cities in
India during the weekends. Apart from Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shaktimaan, Chanakya,
Circus, and Dekh Bhai Dekh are some other popular shows from the bygone era.
